Bruce Trail – Map 11 – Kelso Conservation Area to the End of Iroquoia Club

KMs 116.6 – 122.9r

July 18 & July 24

This hike section was completed 6 days apart.

Day 1. Our original plans were to hike this section and paddle or swim in Kelso Lake afterwards. These plans were thwarted by a 2 hour parking limit and no available bookings for beach access, which was extra money. We ended up parking up top at the Mountain View parking lot and hiking the Bruce Trail down to the West Lodge. We came back by way of ascending up Glen Eden ski hill until we connected with the Bruce Trail. If you aren’t much of a hiker, but are looking for a short walk with a view, the escarpment lookout is iconic.

The July wild flowers are beautiful.

The mountain bikers seemed to share the trail well. However, it is worth mentioning that all of the mountain bike trails make it confusing.

The frogs were hopping

Day 2. This was a solo trip. I parked at the Beach parking, walked up to the West Lodge tunnel and then followed the trail through Kelso and out to Appleby Line. I followed the road to the bridge that divides Iroquoia Club and Toronto Club. Since I jogged and fast walked most of this short segment, I went on a little further before turning back. This time I met back with my friends who were swimming and jumped in the lake with them to cool off. Perfection!
