It was time to take camp food up a notch. I had never cooked steak at camp before, let alone over a fire. It proved to be both easy and delicious. So go for it.
Ingredients (for mother and daughter):
- 2 Thin cut steaks
- 1/4 Lemon
- 4 Sprigs dried rosemary (or 1 fresh sprig)
- Dried Thyme
- Salt (Kosher) & Pepper
- Butter
- Olive oil
- 2 Sheets of tin foil (Size as required)
- 8 Asparagus stalks
Directions:
- Stoke the coals in your campfire.
- Coat tin foil with olive oil and dab with butter.
- Season both sides of the steaks with salt and pepper.
- Place the steaks in the center of the foil. Sprinkle with thyme, add the rosemary sprigs and a slice of fresh lemon to each steak.
- Place fresh vegetables to the steak. Dot with more butter.
- Cover with the second piece of foil over the top. Seal each side of the foil shut. Put the packet in the coals for 8-10 minutes (or until it cooked to your liking). Flip it over halfway through cooking. Let stand for a couple of minutes before opening. Be careful of hot juices.
