We started in the parking lot of the Little Qualicum River Fish Hatchery. Once you leave that area behind, one can really feel like they’ve been transported to the Jurassic Period in this lush forest situated along Little Qualicum River. This was our last day on Vancouver Island. We got up early to join my parent’s on their senior’s hike. Their group moves fast. They leave little time to stop and enjoy the scenery.
Volunteers maintain the trail. Beyond the dirt path there are some boardwalk stairs and upgraded log bridges.
The group took the trail to about the highway and then turned back.
We returned via a logging road, which was hot and dusty, but saved us from retracing our steps.
