Our Pathfinder group stayed at Camp Nemo, an hour outside of Toronto, this weekend. It is next to the Mount Nemo Conservation Area and a segment of the Bruce Trail. I’ve been here before a couple of times and noticed the Scout Camp.
It was our first camp of the year. It’s a great opportunity for the girls to bond and the unit to get acquainted with our tents and equipment.
We chose a site with a 1967 A Frame. This provided us with a kitchen, sans plumbing, and an indoor space to eat. It went down to 3 degrees – the cabin would be our back up in case any of the girls didn’t have warm enough gear. We all really enjoyed this site and would return again.
On Saturday, we did the Bruce Trail loop on Mount Nemo, that takes us to the lookout.

Mount Nemo runs along the escarpment. It’s a fun trail because the diverse terrain.
It starts with a steady incline through the forest with includes dirt, roots, a little bridge and then a ladder through escarpment rock.
At the top of the escarpment most of the path is an easy dirt trail, with some roots. There are some paths over caves and some areas are over rock outcroppings. The views at the top there are great views.
At the the outlook, you can see the Toronto in the distance.
At the end of camp. We asked the girls what they liked the most. They loved the hike and would like to do more like it.
