Bruce Trail – Blue Mountains to Kolapore

What an incredible fall hike! I’ll let the video speak for itself. (My new format has more audio!) What you can expect on this 24km hike was sun, autumn colours, apples, forest, fields, vistas, escarpment outcrops, stairs, waterfalls and flower pots.

Other features in the video are apple fruit leather making, exploring eco-printing chemigrams and hike resilient nail polish.

We met and left vehicles at the Kolapore parking lot. This is a large Bruce Trail parking lot with an outhouse. You can catch a glimpse of this near the beginning of the video. We then drove vehicles to the end of the Blue Mountains section which is also the beginning to the Beaver Valley section. This parking area has limited spots and seems to be popular.

You’ll get a view right away and soon come upon Craigleith Ski Hill, which offers another view. One thing to note is that this is a popular trail for off leash dog owners. We didn’t run into any issues, but it is worth noting.

The trail is well marked, but there are multiple intersecting trails. If you get pre-occupied like I do when chatting with my friends it can be easy to astray. Half the group got off trail around Georgian Peaks Club – I think. They ended up going down the ski hill and back up. This is where the other half frolicked in the daisy field – also in the video.

For those who like to sit and reflect now and then, the Beaver Valley Club has place benches along the trail in strategic places. There is even a bench perched atop a river with a message box.

Around the old mail route marker, I got busy discussing the next “BIG” hike and lead us astray. We didn’t get too far off course thanks to R’s keen eye.

Note: kilometers 0.0- 23.8

Parking: We left the cars at Kolapore and drove a car to Maple St.
